Our Dogs

Ripley

UKC Ch. Ripley Ratso Rix, my foundation bitch, and the dog that made me fall in love with the Rat Terrier breed. And we're spreading the love... check out our puppies!
Ripley is a Miniature, one of the two varieties of Rat Terriers that are recognized by the United Kennel Club. At 13 inches and about 12 pounds, she is very portable, but sturdy and athletic. She has a loving and joyful spirit, and she charms people everywhere she goes... the kind of dog that makes people do a double-take and say, "Hey, what a pretty little dog."

Yes, we adore her!

Ripley comes from the Ratso Rix kennel in Florida. Her sire is Got the Gusto Ratso Rix, and her dam is Chezabelle Ratso Rix--both pretty black tricolor dogs with deep pigment, lithe structure, and excellent temperaments. I was lucky enough to get the pick of a nice litter, and Ripley stood out. She had the most charming personality, and the prettiest face--even at 8 weeks of age.

She still has the most beautiful head and expression of any Rat Terrier I've met. She is also the most intelligent dog I have ever owned, and an absolute joy to train.
Whether it's flyball, agility, or learning one of the many amusing tricks in her repertoire, she loves to learn and perform. She is a very effective nanny to our Kangal pups, playing with them but teaching them to be respectful of small dogs, though they outweigh her by the time they're 4 weeks old!

Jeepers

SmartyPants Jeepers is the pup I kept from Ripley's first litter. His first 18 months were spent play-training on the flat and then over low jumps, as I learned handling skills and he taught me how to handle a fast dog. Then he began his career as my agility partner.
He got his Novice UKC agility title in his first trial weekend, and has moved on to NADAC and USDAA. In 2006 when Rat Terriers are admitted into AKC Miscellaneous class, he'll be out there trialing in AKC events as well. He's got drive, talent, and tremendous speed, and is pure fun to run with. See more photos of Jeepers.

Yes, the Rat Terrier is becoming known as an outstanding breed for sports such as agility, Rally, and flyball. This is a dog that can do it all, and then snuggle up on the couch with you afterwards. What could be better?
